BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Fargo state Rep. Jasper Schneider has resigned from the North Dakota House.
The 30-year-old Democrat recently was appointed as North Dakota's director for the federal Agriculture Department's Rural Development agency.
Schneider's resignation took effect Sunday. He was first elected to the House in 2006, and his term ends in December 2010.
The Fargo attorney ran unsuccessfully last year for state insurance commissioner.
Schneider's District 21 covers central Fargo. Democratic activists in the district have the authority to appoint a replacement for Schneider until next year's elections.
