FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Students this weekend are kicking off the third annual Fill the Dome drive with a goal of collecting 75 tons of food at the Fargodome and raising $75,000 in donations by late November.
Students the past two years have helped collect more than $60,000 and 100 tons of food.
Fargo Oak Grove junior Joe Burgum says one food drive isn't going to solve hunger, but students also are trying to raise awareness.
Students hope to get 7,500 signatures for a petition to the North Dakota Legislature showing the community's awareness and urging lawmakers to step up the effort to solve hunger issues.
