A vehicle mishap resulted in the death of a passenger on Thursday in McKenzie County, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 5:43 p.m. on U.S. Highway 22, about 30 miles north of Killdeer, N.D., when a northbound 2013 Chevrolet service truck stopped when a piece of insulation blew off the bed, according to the patrol.

A 41-year-old male passenger from Culbertson, Mont., picked up the insulation and fell off the truck's service bed while the vehicle backed up was run over, the patrol said. The victim died on scene.

The 47-year-old male driver from Kalispell, Mont., escaped injury, and a 37-year-old male passenger from Williston was also not injured, the patrol said.
