SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has proposed a $3,250 fine against a Sioux Falls company, C&W Enterprises.
The firm violated the requirements for having and using radioactive materials, the NRC said Monday in a release.
The company didn't properly store a portable gauge containing radioactive material during NRC inspections in November 2006 and this past April, according to the agency.
"NRC regulations require that users of radioactive materials maintain appropriate security at all times in order to protect public health and safety," said Bruce Mallett, an NRC regional administrator.
