BISMARCK (AP) -- A fiery head-on collision on N.D. Highway 1804 south of Bismarck killed three people and forced the shutdown of the highway for about three hours.

The Highway Patrol says an SUV driven by 21-year Evan Thundershield failed to negotiate a curve in the road and drove into the oncoming lane, hitting a car head on. The SUV overturned and burned.

The patrol says Thundershield and the other driver, 60-year-old Steven Nelson, died at the scene of Thursday afternoon's crash. Thundershield's passenger, 34-year-old Theda Charley, died later at a hospital. All three were from Bismarck.
