Stutsman County Communications Center dispatched JRFD to a report of a car on fire on U.S. Highway 52 at mile marker 260 at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The call was near the Parkhurst Recreation Center turnoff across from the Agri-Cover facility, according to JRFD Chief Ben Maulding. Two JRFD trucks and six firefighters were on scene at 5:42 p.m., and cleared the scene with no incidents or injuries at 6:18 p.m.

“It was an equipment issue,” Maulding said. “The fire started under the hood.”

The mid-1990s Buick Regal was fully engulfed by the time JRFD arrived, Maulding said. The vehicle was a total loss.
