Jamestown Fire Department responded to a call at 1:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, about a gas leak at Maple Mall. Sheldon Mohr, training officer for JFD, said seven firefighters arrived at the scene, with 17 more on standby.

Mohr said the Fire Department monitored the air in the building and cut the main gas line, ventilating the building immediately afterward. Firefighters left the scene by 2:43 p.m., and Mohr said the leak was caused by an undetermined malfunction in one of the boilers.

The Jamestown Police Department blocked traffic near Jamestown Middle School as a safety precaution to ensure JFD had direct access to the scene.
