The Jamestown Rural Fire Department responded at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, to a fire at 9330 28th St. SE, Spiritwood. Rick Woehl, assistant chief, said a skid steer was on fire inside a Quonset at that location.
‘Fortunately, it was contained to just that piece of equipment so we were able to get it out right away and ventilated the Quonset,” he said.
The skid steer sustained a fair amount of damage, he said. The cause of the fire was a heater that was used to try and warm up the skid steer to start it, he said.
Four trucks and nine firefighters responded to the call and JRFD left the scene about 20 minutes after arrival, he said.
