FARGO — Two people found dead during a fire at a south Fargo home Tuesday, Dec. 22, appear to have died in a murder-suicide, Fargo police said in a statement.
The bodies have been sent for an autopsy to determine their causes of death, the statement said.
Firefighters found the two bodies in the twin home while responding to the fire Tuesday morning. At about 7:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to a report of a residence fully engulfed in fire at 2101 52nd St. S., the Fargo Fire Department said.
The West Fargo and Fargo Fire Departments arrived to find a fire in both units of the twin home and on parts of its outdoor deck. Firefighters took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
While working to stop the fire, firefighters found two people dead in the home, officials said, though three people escaped one of the units.
Fargo police and fire officials have launched a joint investigation into the fire and deaths. The names of the two people found dead won't be released until authorities notify family members, police said.
