FARGO (AP) -- Andre Smith, the leading scorer and rebounder on North Dakota State University's men's basketball team last season, has signed to play pro ball in Germany, his agent said.

Smith, a 6-8 forward, is joining Trier, a member of the 18-team Bundesliga League.

"I think this will be a great starting point for Andre's pro career," said his agent, Ben Pensack. "I think Andre will excel in this league ... He may be a little undersized for the NBA, but in Europe he will be able to use his quickness and rebounding prowess very well."

Smith led NDSU in scoring, with 17 points per game, and rebounding, with nine per game, during his final season with the Bison.

He played two years for NDSU after transferring from the North Dakota State College of Science at Wahpeton. Smith is a native of St. Paul, Minn.
