PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A former South Dakota school business manager has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for embezzlement, and ordered to repay the money.
Thirty-four-year-old Jamie Lee Beisch pleaded guilty in February to embezzling more than $277,000 from the McLaughlin School District by writing unauthorized payroll checks to himself over a two-year period, starting in May 2007.
McLaughlin is about 10 miles south of the North Dakota border on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
