THOMPSON, N.D. (AP) -- Maj. Bob Rost with the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department says foul play is not suspected in a fatal house fire in Thompson.
The body of 78-year-old Norman Fillbrandt was found on the floor of a mudroom connecting his house and garage shortly after midnight Tuesday. Rost says Fillbrandt lived alone.
A passing motorist alerted authorities to the fire. Rost says it took fire crews from Thompson, Reynolds and Manvel about an hour to contain the blaze.
State and local officials are investigating the cause. Officials did not immediately decide whether to do an autopsy on Fillbrandt.
