The following free parent education classes are available in Jamestown:
Love & Logic: This course teaches parents simple techniques for improving behavior and increasing responsibility through love, empathy and logical consequences. The six-week class meets Mondays from Oct 10 to Nov. 14 (no class Oct. 31) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gussner Elementary. It includes free dinner and child care.
Common Sense Parenting: This six-week course covers family communication, positive discipline, decision-making, relationships, self-control and school success. It will meet Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Washington School, 700 Fourth Ave. NW. Free child care is available.
Parenting Grandparents: Parenting for the second time around? Meet others in the same role and discuss the unique challenges of parenting grandchildren. This group meets the last Thursday each month at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 Fourth Ave. SE. Free child care is available.
