EDINA, Minn. (AP) -- The 6-year-old Edina girl who was severely injured when she sat on an uncovered wading pool drain has returned home.

Abigail Taylor, who lost her small intestines in the accident, was discharged from Children's Hospital in Minneapolis on Tuesday, said the family's lawyer, Robert Bennett.

The girl's parents, Scott and Kathryn Taylor, received special training in how to care for Abigail, who is on a feeding tube 18 hours a day, Bennett said. They also have nursing help for part of the day.

"There've been some trials and tribulations, of course," Bennett said. Among other things, the family of six is adjusting to mealtime with one child who cannot eat.

"Everything is new now," he said, adding that "they're all troopers."

Abigail was injured June 29 when she sat on a drain in the wading pool at the Minneapolis Golf Club in St. Louis Park. The powerful suction tore out most of her intestinal tract.

Since her injury, a U.S. Senate panel has adopted measures that would require anti-entrapment drain covers and other safeguards on public pools.
