North Dakota receives housing grants

Community housing agencies in North Dakota have been awarded $15.6 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.

The grants are intended to support quality housing in the state.

Local agencies receiving grants include the Barnes County Housing Authority with a grant of $92,770 and the McIntosh County Housing Authority with $14,549. The grants will be used to rehabilitate and develop public housing.

The North Dakota Housing Trust Fund received a $3 million grant. The program is intended to “preserve the quality of affordable housing” in North Dakota. North Dakota also received $3.9 million for Community Development Block Grants for low- and middle-income housing and $3 million for the HOME program for low-income family housing.
