The city of Courtenay received a $15,000 grant from the North Dakota Community Foundation for construction of a Courtenay Community Hall that occurred in 2018, according to Myron Vigeson, Courtenay city auditor.
The Courtenay Community Fund was established at NDCF in 2017 by Geronimo Energy to benefit communities near the Courtenay Wind Farm. The fund provides grants to nonprofit and community projects and programs for up to 20 years. A local advisory committee recommends grant awards to NDCF.
The Courtenay Community Hall is used for community events and city government. The
hall may be rented for private events such as receptions and business meetings. The hall
includes a modern kitchen and sound system.
The North Dakota Community Foundation manages over $83 miillion in over 700 separate
charitable funds to meet the various needs of donors and nonprofit organizations across the
state. Established in 1976, the organization is committed to improving the quality of life for North
Dakota citizens through charitable giving and promoting philanthropy.
