Stutsman County is updating its multi-jurisdictional multi-hazard mitigation plan according to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requirements. The first steering committee meeting to begin the planning process is from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Exchequer Room at the Jamestown Civic Center in Jamestown. The meeting is open to the public.
The agenda for the meeting includes sign-in, welcome and introductions, mitigation overview, organization of the planning process, overview of plan hazards/threats, finalizing the mitigation survey, an update on plan progress, mitigation project review and next steps.
A mitigation plan helps local jurisdictions prioritize actions to keep people safe and limit losses from natural hazards and man-made threats. The plan works as a tool to identify vulnerabilities and risks and develop mitigation actions. The plan is also required for the jurisdictions to access grants from FEMA and other sources.
