Dakota Spirit AgEnergy is running well, according to Greg Ridderbusch, vice president for business development and strategy for Great River Energy and a member of the Spiritwood Energy Park Association Board of Directors.
“The facility is running well,” he said to the SEPA Board of Directors Friday. “Fully staffed and operating at near capacity.”
Dakota Spirit AgEnergy is a corn-based ethanol plant capable of producing about 65 million gallons of ethanol per year. Testing and startup operations began in April.
Ridderbusch said Dakota Spirit AgEnergy is using the SEPA rail loop for shipping ethanol and dry distillers grain.
Rich Garman, project manager, said the next step is to bring more tenants to the Energy Park.
Ridderbusch said the lack of additional tenants does not affect SEPA operations but would be an enhancement for all businesses involved in the project.
The Energy Park has about 400 acres of land currently rented as farm cropland.
Garman said some possible future tenants include construction companies that could use the rail loop to take delivery on building materials.
Connie Ova, CEO of the JSDC, said she had sent out information on the Energy Park to several companies including energy refineries, plastics companies and a soybean processor.
