Guelph, N.D., will celebrate a “roof-raising” at its annual turkey barbecue July 12 at the Guelph Community Center, formerly the Guelph School.
Community volunteers have worked for the past three years to raise money to replace the community center’s leaking roof. The attached gymnasium’s roof was redone several years ago.
Three museum rooms contain much of this community’s history. Other rooms in the former school building are home to the “Off the ‘Shuelph’ at Guelph” refurbished furniture, antique, vintage, garden and retro items that volunteers have been selling. All proceeds have gone toward the $108,000 roof replacement. The roof was recently completed.
In addition to the turkey barbecue meal, homemade pie with ice cream will be available for purchase. Visitors may browse all of the rooms and purchase items from the “Off the ‘Shuelph’ at Guelph” projects from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be many silent auction baskets that attendees can bid on. The Guelph Community Band will perform at noon, and face painting and children’s games will be available July 12.
People will be served lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m., and the meal will include barbecue turkey with all of the trimmings.
Everyone in the area is invited to help celebrate the completion of the roof project.
