FARGO (AP) -- Guests at a motel here were evacuated early Wednesday after a fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

The fire started in the attic on the south end of the Kelly Inn just after midnight, Fire Marshal Norm Scott said. Firefighters had to cut holes in the roof and an outside wall, but they managed to keep the fire from spreading, he said.

The cause of the fire is believed to be "electrical in nature," Scott said.

"It appears that it was confined to the attic area," he said.

The motel was evacuated after an employee working a night shift saw embers falling outside the building and reported the fire, said Bruce McGavin, the Kelly Inn general manager.

McGavin said 45 rooms had been sold for the night. Some guests were taken to another Kelly Inn and others were put up in other motels.
