GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) -- A hangar and several airplanes at Grafton Municipal Airport were damaged by a strong thunderstorm, and there were reports of a tornado in the area at the time.
The Walsh County sheriff's office says the storm bearing 100 mph winds swept through the airport about 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Five planes sustained $150,000 in damage, and the hangar they were parked in was also damaged. No injuries were reported.
Al Voelker in the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks says a tornado snapped two power poles, dented three steel bins and downed trees just east of Grafton about the same time. A preliminary storm report estimates the twister was an EF-1.
