Harding undergoes major knee surgery

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Lynx point guard Lindsey Harding, the first pick in this year's WNBA draft, had reconstructive surgery on her left knee Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Lynx point guard Lindsey Harding, the first pick in this year's WNBA draft, had reconstructive surgery on her left knee Friday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Harding had the operation at Duke University in Durham, N.C., where she starred for the Blue Devils before being drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in April and traded minutes later to Minnesota.

Harding, who will begin her rehabilitation in Durham, is expected to need six-to-nine months to recover.
