GRAND FORKS (AP) -- The Hatton and Northwood school districts in eastern North Dakota won't be consolidating, after a vote this week in both districts.
Northwood voters approved the measure with 96 percent of the vote, but 58 percent of Hatton voters rejected it. The measure needed a majority vote in both districts to pass.
Northwood Superintendent Paula Pederson said the outcome was "frustrating, disappointing."
Before the vote, the proposal was approved by a planning committee of 50 people from both districts, as well as the two school boards, the Grand Forks and Traill County reorganization committee and the state Department of Public Instruction.
