U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp is seeking nominations of individuals, families or organizations that are improving the lives of foster and adopted children as Angels in Adoption.
Through Angels in Adoption, members of Congress are able to honor individuals, families or organizations in their states that have enriched the lives of foster and adopted children, while also raising public awareness about the selflessness of those who open their homes to children.
Nominations can be made at
www.heitkamp.senate.gov
and will be accepted until July 16. For further questions or assistance in the nominating process, contact Heitkamp’s office at (800) 223-4457.
Last year, Heitkamp’s Angel in Adoption was Ina Olson of Belcourt.
The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute holds an Angels in Adoption Gala each year in Washington, D.C., to honor the Angels, organizations and professionals that positively impact foster and adoptive children from around the country. The Angels can be adoptive parents, foster parents, a social worker, attorney, an adoptee, physician, nurse, teacher, mentor, or child advocate who has made a difference in the lives of children through adoption, foster care or child welfare advocacy.
