BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- An energy company that operates in western North Dakota is giving $1 million to flood relief efforts in the state.

Hess Corp. says it is giving $750,000 to the Minot Area Community Foundation and $250,000 to the North Dakota Community Foundation.

Chairman and CEO John Hess says the company is "deeply concerned about the people who are suffering from the devastation."

The Souris River has swamped much of Minot, and other areas including Bismarck-Mandan and Fargo have battled river flooding this year.
