FANAMOOSE, N.D. - An Elgin man and his two passengers were injured in a vehicle collision that shut down Highway 52 in McHenry County for five hours Saturday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Frederick Eslinger, 62, was towing a camper trailer with a Dodge pickup on Highway 14 when he failed to yield at an intersection with Highway 52. The pickup was struck on its right side by a westbound semi truck hauling an oversize load and driven by Kerone Nelson, 38, of Etobicoke, Ontario.
One of Eslinger’s two passengers - neither of whom were identified - was airlifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot. Eslinger and second passenger were transported to the hospital in Harvey with minor injuries. The semi truck driver was uninjured.
Eslinger was cited with failing to yield.
The pickup was totaled while the semi and trailer sustained substantial damage.
The crash remains under investigation.
