Jamestown Fire Department calls:

July 15: 9:17 p.m., the fire department responded to 408 Business Loop West, Ranch House Motel, to a report of smoke. The fire response was cancelled when arriving firefighters found that vandals had set off a dry chemical fire extinguisher. Time out: 20 minutes.

July 16: 8:46 p.m., the fire department responded to 1217 Sixth Ave. S.E., to a garage fire. The fire caused about $200 in damage to contents. The cause was a juvenile fire setter. The juvenile sustained burns to one hand. The fire was quickly extinguished. Time out: 55 minutes.

July 19: 5:02 a.m., the ready squad responded to 5855 Third St. S.E., Cavendish Farms, to investigate a fire alarm activation, There was no fire. A faulty system component caused the alarm. Time out: 40 minutes.
