July 1: 2:15 p.m., fire department responded to a grass fire at Seventh Street and 13th Avenue S.E. (open lot). Small grass fire was extinguished. Most probable cause was fireworks. On scene: 15 minutes.
July 1: 4:08 p.m., ready squad responded to a fire alarm activation at 501 19th St. N.E. (Central Dakota Village). Individual accidentally pulled the fire alarm. No fire. On scene: 10 minutes.
July 1: 5:58 p.m., the ready squad responded to gas smell/leak at 2505 Hwy 281 S (temporary gas service line) MDU responded to the scene and repaired gas line. Firefighters stayed on scene until MDU repaired gas line. Damages due to fireworks. No fire. On scene: 40 minutes.
July 1: 10:08 p.m., fire dept responded to a fire at 501 Sixth St. S.E. #1 (Apartment). Fire was out upon arrival of fire units. Firefighters removed smoke. Burner on stove melted a coffee maker. On scene: 25 minutes.
July 3: 6:55 p.m., ready squad responded to a fire alarm activation at N.D. State Hospital (New Horizons Building). Firefighters checked building; no smoke or fire was found. Faulty detector head. On scene: 20 minutes.
July 5: 10:58 a.m., fire department responded to a fire in an exterior electrical box at 210 Business Loop West (Salvation Army Thrift Store). Firefighters evacuated the building and requested Ottertail Power Company to cut power to structure. Extinguished small fire and checked for fire extension. On scene: 50 minutes.
