Jamestown Cleanup Week statistics

Report from the city of Jamestown shows a reduction in refuse collected in this week's cleanup week.

Total weight collected by the Jamestown Cleanup Week was down for 2021, according to Sarah Hellekson, city administrator.

Total weight for the week was 176.3 tons of refuse. This was the lowest amount reported in the past five years, she said.

Curbside residential collections during cleanup week were 433.35 tons in 2019, 306.1 tons in 2018, 209.5 tons in 2017 and 185.5 tons in 2016. Cleanup week was not held in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Thanks to city staff for working hard and on very short notice," Hellekson said in an email. "The community appreciated it, as evidenced by the very few (if any) complaints we received at City Hall."

While the curbside cleanup has ended in Jamestown, extended hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, continue.
