JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a fire coming from the roof of a garage Wednesday, April 5, in the northeast part of town, according to Lt. Sheldon Mohr with the Jamestown Fire Department.

Four units and 21 firefighters responded to 301 7th Ave. NE at about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. Mohr said the fire was quickly extinguished.

He said the garage sustained “significant damage.”

Mohr said the cause of the fire is under investigation until the department speaks with the homeowner. He said the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.

Jamestown Area Ambulance and the Jamestown Police Department also responded to the scene.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
