Jamestown Fire Department responds to 2 calls on Sunday
One was reported in the morning; the other was reported in the afternoon.
The Jamestown Fire Department responded to two minor calls on Sunday, Jan. 29, said Fire Chief Jim Reuther.
The department was dispatched at 5:50 a.m. to Eagle Flats at 211 2nd Ave. SW for a report of smoke coming from the third floor of the apartment complex, Reuther said.
“When they arrived on scene there was no fire alarm activation,” he said. “Furnace exhaust to the exterior of the building may have looked like smoke to the caller.”
There was no smoke or fire, and the department cleared the scene at 6:04 a.m.
Nineteen firefighters and three units responded, he said.
The department was dispatched at 3:42 p.m. to a report of a vehicle fire at 1418 Gardenette Drive No. 1. The call was canceled while firefighters were en route, Reuther said.
When the owner started the vehicle it started on fire and the owner was able to extinguish it, Reuther said. There was moderate damage.
Fifteen firefighters responded.
Reuther said one unit did continue to the scene.
“They responded down there to get information for the report,” he said.
No injuries were reported.
