Jamestown High School Drama was named state champion at the NDHSAA Class A One-Act Play Contest on Monday, April 12, at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake.

JHS performed Alan Haehnel's comedy "A Simple Task" which follows a young woman's surreal first day of work as she tries to complete her seemingly simple first assignment, encountering all sorts of obstacles, bizarre characters and a boss who always seems to be a different person.

The cast and crew include Ian Weis, Rebecca Krieger, Zoe Bennett, Olivia Schriock, Emma Wiley, Anja McDermid, Logan-Ross Motter, Dominique Scobee, Daniel Nyland, Ray Jasmann, Haylee Spurgeon and Isaac Hasbargen.

"A Simple Task" was performed on April 9 in the JHS Theater before the state competition.

This is the first time JHS has taken first place since the contest format was adopted for Class A in 2013.
