Jamestown High School Speech team places 2nd in state tournament

Five members of the team from JHS became state champions.

The Jamestown High School Speech team who placed secnd at the state tournament over the weekend. There were five state champions on the team: Keelie Renwick in Speech to Entertain, Madison Motschenbacher in Speech to Inform, Anja McDermid in Serious Prose, Ian Weis in Humorous Interpretation and Anja McDermid and Ian Weis in Serious Duo.

Other award winners include:

Dramatic Interpretation: Logan Motter, sixth

Extemporaneous Speaking: Will Nelson, seventh

Impromptu speaking: Gavin Haut, eighth

Humorous Duo: Paris Eslick and Keelie Renwick, sixth

Humorous Interpretation: Olivia Schriock, fourth

Radio Broadcasting: Madalyn Orr, second, Paris Ndikum, third

Serious Prose: Logan Motter, third

Speech to Persuade: Madison Motschenbacher, eighth

Storytelling: Paris Eslick, fifth

The team as a whole had an exceptional season, said coaches Laura Weis and Chantel Harr. The seniors on the team who will be missed when speech resumes next year are Gavin Haut, Keelie Renwick, Dawson Mee, Madison Motschenbacher, Westin Walker, and Ian Weis.
