BISMARCK (AP) -- The North Dakota Wheat Commission is hosting a team of Japanese millers Sunday through Tuesday.
The commission said the Japanese market is one of the oldest and most reliable for hard red spring wheat, North Dakota's staple crop.
The visits give millers valuable information, including crop outlooks and updates on quality and breeding programs. The commission said the visits help assure the Japanese of the reliability of U.S. wheat.
Japan buys about 185 million bushels of various types of wheat annually, with the U.S. supplying about two-thirds of the total.
