GRAND FORKS-A jury selection and trial began Tuesday, Oct. 2, for a man accused of vehicular homicide.
Jordan Lee Borland of Lisbon, N.D., was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram south on state Highway 1 on April 13, 2017, when he missed a curve and rolled the car 8 miles south of Pekin in northeast North Dakota, an affidavit for his arrest said.
Borland and the passenger, 23-year-old Kevin Lemna of Enderlin, N.D., were not wearing seatbelts, according to the affidavit. Lemna died at the scene and Borland was treated at the hospital for injures, court documents said.
Borland was charged Oct. 17, 2017, after records said officials believe he had been intoxicated while driving the night of the crash.
Borland has been convicted of three traffic violations since the accident. In February he was cited for not wearing his seatbelt and in May he was charged for not providing a child restraint device and ignoring a stop sign.
