BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota's English state motto may soon have a Latin companion.
The state House has endorsed "Serit ut alteri saeclo prosit" as North Dakota's Latin motto.
In English, the motto means "One sows for the benefit of another age."
House members voted 75-19 on Thursday to approve the new motto. It now goes to the North Dakota Senate for further work.
Bismarck state Rep. Karen Karls says a group of Fargo high school Latin students pushed the idea.
