JAMESTOWN — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced there will be an informational open house on the Pipestem Dam spillway project from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. The open house will be at Jamestown High School, 1509 10th St. NE, with an overview presentation scheduled at 6:15 p.m.
The project consists of building a concrete terminal structure on the downstream end of Pipestem Creek and filling in the eroded areas with concrete.
People may come at any time from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn about Pipestem Dam's role in reducing flood risk, the purpose and details of the spillway modification project and what people can do anytime to prepare for a flood.
Rep. Taylor Rehfeldt, a Republican from Sioux Falls, said conversations with doctors convinced her the current "life of the pregnant female" exception was too vague.
