The Valley City (N.D.) State University Concert Choir and Voice Studio will present their first concert in the new Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4. Admission to the concert is free, and donations to support the work of the choir are welcome.
The Center for the Arts brings the VCSU art and music programs together in a state-of-the-art facility including spaces designed specifically for the disciplines. The choir concert will be held in the 350-seat Concert Hall, which features adjustable acoustics.
The Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Kathryn Rolf, will present music by Whitacre, Tallis, Melanie Demore, Bart Howard and others. Small vocal ensembles will sing folk songs and music by Stephen Foster. The voice studios of Anthony Rohr and Kathryn Rolf will perform a staged medley of songs from "The Phantom of the Opera," including solos, duets and ensemble singing.
