Madelyn Schmidt and Chase Bader awarded North Dakota Farm Bureau scholarships

Funds for the scholarships were raised through an online auction.

The North Dakota Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee announced eight individuals have been awarded $1,000 scholarships through the NDFB Foundation. The money is raised through an auction at the NDFB Annual Meeting in November. Auction items are donated by county Farm Bureaus and volunteers.

“This past year we had to try something new and hold our scholarship auction online due to COVID restrictions,” said Joey Bailey, NDFB director of organizational development.

Pifer’s Auction and Realty hosted the online auction on its website.

“We’d like to thank all our members who helped make the auction a success,” said Bailey. “It means so much to us to be able to award these deserving students to help further their education.”

The scholarships awarded to Jamestown area students were:

  • The Becki Palmer Scholarship was awarded to Madelyn Schmidt of Medina. The scholarship, awarded to four students, is for high school seniors and honors an NDFB employee who lost her battle with cancer in 2006.
  • The NDFB Agriculture Scholarship is for an undergraduate student majoring in agriculture who has completed or will be completing their freshman year of post-secondary school. The winner is Chase Bader of Lehr.
