Registered sex offender Gero Davis Mahto will move into the Ranch House motel today, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Mahto is a 37-year-old, 6-foot, 1-inch Native American who has been assigned a high-risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee of the office of the attorney general.
Mahto was convicted of four counts of gross sexual imposition in 1992 for raping four women in Fargo.
The Jamestown Police Department held a public information meeting in August 2006 when Mahto was first scheduled to be released and said he wanted to live in Jamestown. His release was delayed until he completed chemical dependency treatment.
According to police, Mahto will be on supervised probation with 24 conditions of probation, including that he may not possess any alcoholic beverages or non-prescribed controlled substances and he must allow his probation officer access to search his person, place of residence or vehicle at any time without a search warrant. He will be monitored by a GPS ankle bracelet.
