The discovery of a stabbing victim outside a Crookston, Minn., home has led prosecutors to charge a Grand Forks man with first-degree assault.
Travis Michael Lee Holt, 26, was arrested Saturday in Grand Forks. He appeared Monday in North Dakota District Court and agreed to be extradited to Polk County.
At 5:39 a.m. Saturday, Crookston police responded to a report of a stabbing at 146 Twin Drive, the department said in a news release.
An officer found the 29-year-old victim, Bennett Lee Blackbird, surrounded by several people. Witnesses told police the suspect had left the scene. Through investigation, police said, they learned that Holt had stabbed Blackbird.
Paramedics took Blackbird to the emergency room of RiverView Hospital in Crookston. Blackbird, of Grand Forks, was in stable condition Monday, police said.
