BISMARCK (AP) -- A jury has convicted a man for beating, choking and stabbing his ex-girlfriend.
Ernest Coppage, 37, was found guilty Friday of attempted murder. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Coppage was arrested in October 2006 after police responded to a domestic dispute call. Officers said they found a 23-year-old woman with numerous injuries, including puncture or stab wounds to a leg.
"This is about the victim, getting the outcome the victim deserves," Burleigh County prosecutor Lloyd Suhr said.
The victim was in the courtroom when the verdict was read. She had no comment.
