FARGO - A 27-year-old man is in police custody after climbing a sign at a south Fargo hotel and jumping onto the roof.

Police were called to the Grand Inn at 3402 14th Ave. S. at about 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, on a report of a man who was harassing patrons.

The man climbed the hotel's sign and then got onto the roof before entering the hotel attic through a roof vent, police said. By noon, police had surrounded the hotel.

Police used a fire truck ladder to reach the roof and spoke to the man with weapons drawn. Authorities said they believed the man had a knife. A police drone was also used to view the scene.
