BIWABIK, Minn. - A 37-year-old man was found dead Saturday morning after an all-terrain vehicle crash south of Biwabik.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported that a bicyclist traveling on the 6000 block of Stepetz Road in Biwabik Township - about 60 miles north of Duluth - about 7 a.m. noticed an ATV sitting in a creek with the engine running.
Upon further investigation, the passerby found the driver of the ATV in the water, deceased, and called authorities.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that it appears the ATV veered off the road and went down into a steep ditch, striking a tree and coming to rest in the water.
The victim’s name and hometown were not released Saturday pending notification of family. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
