BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- A former Bismarck hotel worker has pleaded not guilty to stealing the wallet of a displaced Minot flood victim.

Derek Bendixson is charged with felony theft. Authorities say he took a wallet containing $3,800 that belonged to a Minot woman whose family was in Bismarck in early September to do school shopping.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that court documents indicate Bendixson was caught on video surveillance taking the wallet, putting it under the front desk at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, and later retrieving it. He denies stealing the wallet.

The hotel terminated Bendixson after he was charged.
