THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. -- A man at the center of an hours-long standoff Thursday in Thief River Falls has turned himself in.
Eric James Reinbold, 38, of Oklee, Minn., was arrested at the Pennington County Jail in Thief River Falls around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. He faces three charges of second degree assault, all with a penalty of up to seven years in prison, a $14,000 fine or both.
A warrant had been issued for Reinbold’s arrest on Friday after a domestic disturbance call cumulated into an armed standoff with multiple law enforcement agencies. The 38-year-old allegedly assaulted his wife and two children by repeatedly ramming a car they were in with his pickup Thursday, according to court documents.
Sheriff’s Deputy David Olson, Thief River Falls Police, Polk County Sheriff's Office, Red Lake County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Minnesota State Patrol and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension all responded to the scene Thursday. Reinbold initially spoke with Olson, but would not put his weapon down.
Law enforcement set up a perimeter and tried to reestablish contact with Reinbold, who had retreated back into the woods. When they searched the property early in the evening, there were no signs of him, according to an incident report.
