MANDAN, N.D. (AP) -- Mandan residents are raising a stink about a mysterious smell.
The odor has wafted across parts of the city this week. The Bismarck Tribune reports that no one seems to be able to pinpoint the source.
Public Works Director Jeff Wright says the smell isn't coming from the wastewater treatment plant or any sewer lines in the city. Kist Livestock manager Diane Given says there hasn't been any unusual activity at the sale barn. She says officials hauled manure three weeks ago but it shouldn't be an issue now. Officials at the Tesoro oil refinery say there hasn't been anything out of the ordinary there.
The smell is a hot topic in the city, but City Administrator Jim Neubauer (NOO'-bow-ur) says he hasn't received any formal complaints.
