Medina man injured in accident

A Medina, N.D., man was injured after the vehicle he was driving slid into a tree Tuesday evening, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office.

A Medina, N.D., man was injured after the vehicle he was driving slid into a tree Tuesday evening, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were pursuing John Flaska, 37, Medina, for a moving violation. Flaska was driving a 1995 Buick passenger car westbound on Water Street East near Third Avenue Southeast in Medina around 8 p.m.

Flaska attempted to turn south onto Third Avenue Southeast at a high rate of speed, deputies said. When he was unable to make the corner, the Buick slid into a tree.

Flaska was transported to Jamestown Hospital and later to Bismarck.

Deputies said alcohol was involved in the crash.

The Buick sustained $4,000 in damage. Flaska was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident is still under investigation.
