The Stutsman County Commission accepted the resignation of Nicole Meland, county auditor and chief operating officer of the county, during a special meeting Friday.
The resignation is effective Oct. 2.
The Commission approved the formation of a committee to explore the next steps in the process of hiring a new auditor and delegating responsibilities among staff during the interim.
