Merchants fall to Mudhens in Fargo

The top-seeded Jamestown Merchants lost their opening-round game of the Fargo League tournament on Wednesday as the Fargo-Moorhead Mudhens scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to claim a 5-3 victory.

The top-seeded Jamestown Merchants lost their opening-round game of the Fargo League tournament on Wednesday as the Fargo-Moorhead Mudhens scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to claim a 5-3 victory.

Josh Shaw, who was 3-for-4 in the game offensively, was saddled with the loss despite the Merchants outhitting the Mudhens by a 9-4 margin.

The Merchants (22-8) host Fairmount on Saturday at 1 p.m. On Sunday the Merchants take on the Mudhens at noon and then face the Jamestown Elks at 4 p.m. All games will be played at Jack Brown Stadium.
